ABOUT THE COURSE

The course is extremely picturesque and historical route, that passes along Craigville Beach, Kalus Beach, historic Hyannis Harbor, Lewis Bay, John F. Kennedy Memorial, Kennedy Family Compound, Officer Michael Aselton Memorial Park, and the charming Cape Cod villages of Hyannisport and Centerville.

The Hyannis Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & Marathon Team Relay will all run concurrently. The Hyannis Marathon is two loops of the course, shown in the above map. The Hyannis Half Marathon is one loop of the course. The 10K course, is shown in green.

 

The course is paved and mostly flat and gentle, with a few rolling areas ideal for a late winter/early spring PR.

 

The course is not closed to traffic however the traffic is very light on most of the route. The course is well monitored by police and volunteers.

 

Both the marathon and half marathon courses are USATF certified by Ray Nelson. The marathon course is a Boston Qualifier.

Race Start Time: 10am

There is a strict 6 hour time completion. All Safety and Course Management will be off the course at 4:00pm

WATER STOPS & AID STATIONS

8 aid stations providing water & lemon-lime gatorade along Half Marathon course

 

15 aid stations providing water & lemon-lime gatorade along full Marathon Course

 

28 portable toilets along the course:

  • 20 - will be in front of the Resort & Conference Center at Hyannis - start, end of Half; half-way for full Marathon),

  • 1- will be on Bay Street - aid station

  • 1- will be on Scudder & Craigville Beach Rd (former fire station) - aid station

  • 1- will be at the corner of Craigville Beach Road & Centerville Road - aid station

  • 1- will be at the Craigville Beach Parking lot - also an exchange zone for the Marathon Team Relay

  • 1- will be at Park Ave & Bumps River Rd - aid station

  • 1- will be at the corner of Old Stage Rd and Old Post Rd - aid station

  • 1- will be at Strawberry Hill Rd and Old Town Rd - aid station

  • 1- will be at Old Town Rd and Craigville Beach Rd - aid station

 

Courses staffed by emergency vehicles, and there are four (4) EMTs along the course and four (4) at the Finish Line, with Emergency Service provided by Hyannis Fire Department & Centerville Fire Department.

HYANNIS MARATHON EARLY START

The Hyannis Marathon Early Start begins at 9:30am.

 

Early Start for Marathon Runners Must finish the Marathon in 5+ hours

 

The Hyannis Marathon Early Start will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. - at the Starting Line, directly in front of the Cape Cod Irish Village at The Emerald Resort and Conference Center on Scudder Street, next to the port-a-johns. Please report to "The Start" at 9:20 a.m. for pre-early start instructions.

 

This is strictly for Hyannis Marathon runners ONLY, who expect they will not complete the course in less than 5 hours (Half Marathon or Relay Runners may not participate in "Early Start") NO EXCEPTIONS. Anyone who runs less than 5 hours will be disqualified.

 

Members of the Boston Triathlon Team will be on bicycle's leading you on the course. Race volunteers & aid stations will be manned and your experience will be no different than if you had started at 10:00 a.m.

There will be four legs (7.0, 6.1, 7.0. 6.1). You may have a team of 2, 3, or 4 members. Race Start Time: 10:00am

 

A team member must run at least one full leg. Any one runner may run up to three legs in any order chosen. Relay runners will have a white colored bib number worn on the the front & they will carry batons. Baton passing will take place only at one of the designated exchange points. Teams making exchanges anywhere, other than at a authorized exchange location, will be disqualified.

 

Exchange locations will be at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Lot on Craigville Beach Road and parking will be across the street at the Craigville Beach parking lot & also in front of the Cape Cod Irish Village at The Emerald Resort and Conference Center on Scudder Street.

 

The exchange locations are very easy - 2 runners will be at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Lot location & 2 runners will be in front of the Cape Cod Irish Village at The Emerald Resort and Conference Center. There is ample parking at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Lot exchange location.

 

The following teams will compete for awards one deep (divisions):

 

  • Open Team-Men & Women (0-39 years old)

  • Masters Team-Men & Women (40-49 years old)

  • Sr. Masters Team-Men & Women (50 years old plus)

  • Mixed Open Team (all ages)....must have a minimum of 1 woman on a team..

  • Mixed Masters Team (40-49 years old)...must have a minimum of 1 woman on a team..

  • Mixed Sr. Masters Team (50 years old plus)...must have a minimum of 1 woman on a team

  • Clydesdale Team (all ages)...190lbs. minimum weight per man

  • Filly Team (all ages)...140lbs. minimum weight per women
